This spot is also known as a setting in the myth where gods gathered to discuss how to reopen the Amano Iwato. Surrounded by clear streams and enveloped in a sacred atmosphere, this location is said to bring peace to visitors.

<Kagura dance at Takachiho shrine>

Takachiho's Yokagura is an ancient Shinto ritual held in Takachiho Town, dedicated to local deities and guardian spirits of the land. Every year from November to February, this traditional festival takes place in various settlements, running from the evening until the following afternoon. The performances are characterized by episodes based on Takachiho’s myths, with highlights including the hiding of Amaterasu and the divine event of her returning to the world.

At Takachiho Shrine’s Kagura Hall, four performances are held each night from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The first three performances—"Tajikarao Dance," "Uzume Dance," and "Totori Dance"—are based on the Iwato Mythology, depicting scenes of Amaterasu hiding in the cave and the divine feast of the gods. The final performance, "Goshitai Dance," portrays the love between Izanagi and Izanami, praying for abundant harvests, happy marriages, and safe childbirth.
